The bulletproof hot chocolate was very good. I made mine with real milk, 2 teaspoons plain cocoa, 1 tablespoon cream, and 1 tablespoon coconut oil. I will probably use less milk and more cream in the future to lower carbs. I'm not sure how I feel about putting butter in it. Someday.
I'm not counting all my macros just yet, only carbs. I'm not sure if I want to commit all the way to keto bc one carby meal messes it aaaall up. With my 100 gram limit there is more wiggle room.
I *do* plan to try full-on primal at some point soon. That is similar to paleo but includes dairy. Dairy is life. I don't know why eggs wouldn't be allowed even if you don't have dairy, since they are not related to lactation and our foraging ancestors could have gotten a hold of eggs pretty easily. Plus, perfect protein.
I like the Special K protein water. That brand is pretty much a fiber supplement with a different label. It has maybe 50 calories, 1 net carb, and 5 g fiber. It really helps when I am craving something sweet to have the strawberry-kiwi protein water or a scoop of my regular vanilla protein powder. Plus if you have the fibery drink before a meal it helps you feel full and reduces the impact any other carbs have on your blood sugar and insulin (one of the goals of low carb anyway). Plus it's got crack in it.

ReplyDeleteah. that sounds so good. :( i'm sad i can't make it (lactose intolerance) but i heard someone tell me that she had severe lactose intolerance and if the fat content is high enough, she can handle it better. i'm thinking of possibly trying to put a tbsp or two of heavy cream and see how it goes. they do it with coffee as well from what i know. heavy cream, coconut oil and butter. i think we have coconut oil (which we use for hair). i'm more interested in the coffee. they say it tastes absolutely delicious!
i'm trying to keto (failing miserably). well, i have a thing where i'm combining IF with keto and seeing how it goes. if i fail miserably, at least i know one other thing that won't work. but wow, the amount of fat i had yesterday was absolutely INSANE.
Paleo confuses me. the no-dairy thing is insane. i refuse to do that or engage in that.
i'm giggling so much. i did not know that about fibres and carbs i suppose. usually when i'm preparing a meal, i open up a jar of peanut butter (bad idea), weigh it, and then eat from it whilst the meal is getting ready. this is bad. i can go through 1/4 of a jar quicker than my meat cooks.
